Cadence McShane's Kasturi to oversee Apple's Austin project

Srinath Kasturi will oversee the construction of the new Apple Inc. headquarters in Northwest Austin.

The announcement was made Monday by Neal Harper, president of Cadence McShane Construction Co., which is based in Dallas. Kasturi was promoted to vice president and general manager of the Austin office with his ?initial responsibility? being to manage the design and construction of Apple?s new two-building campus at Parmer Lane and Delcour Drive.

In a press release, Cadence did not refer to Apple by name, but merely mentioned the ?two-building Class A office development at Riata Vista.?

The Austin Business Journal broke the news that Apple had purchased land in the Riata master-planned community near State Highway 183 and Oak Knoll Drive. In a subsequent story, it was revealed that Cadence McShane had been contracted to build Apple's Austin operations center there.

Construction could begin as early as September or October, Kasturi told ABJ. Cadence is recruiting subcontractors through the month of August.

A 10-year veteran at Cadence McShane, Kasturi has a master?s degree in construction administration from the University of Oklahoma. As a construction and project manager, he oversaw projects that included Torchmark Corp. headquarters in McKinney, a Ford Motor Co. parts distribution center in Fort Worth, the Burleson Business Center in Austin and a wide variety of education assignments.

?We are pleased that the caliber of leadership that Kasturi will provide in our Austin office will increase our visibility and recognition as a premier commercial contractor within that growing market,? Harper said.
